Anomie

Lunar Gala is Carnegie Mellon University’s annual fashion show. For the 2019 show, the creative team created the world of Anomie.

Anomie by definition means ”lack of usual social or ethical standards in an individual or group.” This theme was derived from the chaotic political and socioeconomic events of recent years, and the easily nihilist perspective that people can fall into in the face of circumstances such as global warming, economic disasparities, etc.

This theme drove everything from the theme of portals and unrecognizable landscapes, to distinctive typography and use of Google Maps.
